The
installation of composite doors in a house should be carried out by
people with experience doing these kinds of installation. Since there
are some components that are quite heavy, it is important to have two
people involved in the installation process. Otherwise, the results may
not be ideal.
The first step in installing composite doors is inspecting the existing door and, once removed, inspecting the space where the new door will go in. Your new door should be the proper size and should open and close correctly. Before you install it, inspect your door for possible defects or damage, and make sure to test the locks and all keys. Once you've ensured that your door is in good shape, remove all packaging and protective film that may be attached to it. The opening for the door should be in good condition. Since it will not be possible to do so once the door is installed, take this moment to repair any defective brickwork or mortar.
Once you've thoroughly inspected all components involved in the installation, you will need to cut the new sill to the correct size and use sill end caps at each end of the sill. Always check for level. Then lift your door and place it in the opening. One thing that is very important to remember is to not remove the door from the frame. When installing, these should remain attached and be installed together. Take extra care to ensure that everything is square and level. A door that is not level and square will not work properly. Leave a space of 150 millimetres from the top and the bottom. Masonry screws that are suitable for your opening and composite door should be used to security the frame to the opening Fischer fixings often work well for this. Each time you fit a new fixing and do not over tighten!
There many reasons why composite doors are better than traditional wooden doors. They can be made to match the weight, feel, and size of a wooden door, without any of the drawbacks. In fact, composite doors offer a high degree of customization, allowing you to specify designs and measurements that may not be possible or practical with wooden door. Most importantly, composite doors are more resistant to daily wear and tear. They can resist dents, unlike wood, and will not be affected by humidity and other factors that cause wooden doors to warp or twist.
